As you all know by now, everyone’s body is different. Thus, everyone’s metabolism is working at its own rate for reasons specific to each person. However, there is a general approach to your metabolism and how to rev it up.

Your metabolism is made up of hormones and enzymes, and it works via the nutrients you put into your body on a daily basis. Your food intake is what your metabolism considers its fuel, and it has been said before – a healthy diet is crucial! Putting foods into your body that act as nature’s multi-vitamins (lean proteins, broccoli, grapefruit, green tea, etc.) encourages your body / metabolism to function at its best. Also, working out in the morning BEFORE a healthy breakfast is a great way to kick start your metabolism each day...

In addition to the types of ‘fuel’ you take in, your metabolism also works based on how much you weigh. The more you weigh, the faster your metabolism is working to maintain or burn off that extra fat. The less you weigh the less effort your metabolism has to put out to keep you at a net weight. But, since the metabolism is burning fat, an under-developed muscular body will burn fat slower compared to a muscular individual. Therefore, the more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism works! Thus, go build muscle, and you will naturally boost your metabolism and burn more fat!

Everyone’s metabolism decreases as their age increases, but you can still keep it functioning in a healthy manner by trying the above suggestions. Of course, there are also other justifications to a slow metabolism, for example a thyroid defect. But, for most people if you stick to a healthy diet and build muscle, you will see results – go find out for yourself!
