Far-infrared rays have been dubbed "the Light of Life". NASA determined that the far-infrared part of the sun's spectrum is most beneficial for life on earth. . . therefore coining the phrase. It provides the healthy benefits of natural sunlight without any of the dangerous effects of solar radiation.
Infrared light is part of the sun's invisible spectrum. We can, however, feel this type of light, which we perceive as heat. The sun emits rays both visible and invisible to the human eye. Visible rays are seen as a ray of sunlight consisting of the seven colors...red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Rays invisible to the human eye are: infrared rays, ultra-violet, x-rays, and microwaves.
In 1800 the German astronomer, William Herschel, found the infrared rays. He discovered that the temperature of the colors increase as you go from violet to red, yet that the increase in temperature did not stop after red. There existed a space where ‘no visible color was present’. He named this invisible ray, the infrared ray.
One of the characteristics of the Far-Infrared Ray (FIR) is how easily this light is able to penetrate through human tissue. When this occurs a natural resonance is created, which has many beneficial properties. One use of these rays is in China, Palm healing, a 3000 year-old tradition, based on the healing properties of these infrared rays.
Jade is known to be a natural transmitter of far-infrared rays in the same wavelength as from the human body, and it is known to produce negative ions which encourage the cells metabolism. Also "resonant absorption" is a quality of far-infrared whereby tissues needing repair selectively absorb the rays while the remaining rays pass on harmlessly.
Because of the many beneficial effects on the human body, in such a wide range of conditions, far-infrared has also been dubbed "The Medicine of the 21st Century." A few other positive benefits of far-infrared is:
Dr. Toshiko Yamazaki, M.D., author of "The Science of Far-Infrared Therapies" reports that one of the reasons FIR has such beneficial results in a variety of illnesses is its ability to remove toxins, which happen to be the core of many health problems. When toxins accumulate in the body, blood circulation is blocked and cellular energy is impaired. However, when FIR waves are applied, a breakdown of the bond occurs and the toxic substances are released from the body.
FIR therapy has been used for over thirty years to treat patients with various health problems and have exhibited positive results. These conditions include but are not limited to: the pain of arthritis, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, hemorrhoids, cystitis, gastritis, pain, asthma and bronchitis, sore throat, muscle tension, muscle spasms, poor skin tone, acne, body odor, eczema and psoriasis.
